GCE 2.13 Release Notes

Family Portal: Pre-Approval of Games

Parents can now proactively manage and personalise āœØ their child’s gaming experience with the new Pre-Approval feature in the Family Portal. This functionality empowers parents to:

  • Create new child profiles effortlessly within the k-ID ecosystem, even before a child requests access to a game.

  • Explore and pre-approve games ahead of time, setting permissions directly from product pages.

  • Streamline access for children, ensuring that when a child requests a pre-approved game, they can start playing immediately — permissions are already configured, eliminating delays.

This new feature massively reduces friction šŸ”„ in the parental approval process, creating a seamless experience for families while aligning with compliance standards.

Family Portal: Error Messaging

We’ve upgraded our Verifiable Parental Consent (VPC) flow in the Family Portal with new and clearer error messaging. āš ļø This update provides a more transparent and intuitive interface for parents, enhancing communication and usability. We aim to reduce confusion and make it as easy as possible for parents to manage their child’s online experience effectively.

Minimum Age

We’ve made it easier to manage age-restricted products šŸšØ in the Family Portal! Now, when a parent tries to select a child who is under your product’s minimum age restriction, they’ll see a clear error message. Child profiles below the minimum age will be greyed out, preventing the approval process from continuing for those profiles.

Parental Attestation: Age Criteria Not Met

We’ve streamlined the parental attestation process to ensure compliance with age criteria šŸ§’šŸ» is clear and easy to navigate. In markets where your product requires a minimum age for parental attestation as an age verification method, parents will now see a clear error message if their child does not meet the required age criteria. This prevents the completion of the parental attestation process for ineligible profiles, helping your product stay aligned with market-specific rules and regulations.

More ways we're making things better

Aligned Hero Content Across Browsers šŸ’»

The product’s hero content in the Family Portal is now right-aligned on Safari, ensuring consistency with other browsers for a more cohesive user experience.

Improved UI: Zendesk Chat Widget Update šŸ”

To enhance the Family Portal’s interface, we’ve disabled the Zendesk chat widget. Don’t worry — Support via Zendesk is still easily accessible through the Support tab at the bottom of the screen.

Bug Fix: Smooth VPC Flow with ID Scan Verification šŸ›

We’ve fixed a bug in the Verifiable Parental Consent (VPC) flow that occasionally caused the process to stall on the ā€œVerification Successā€ screen when using the ID scan verification method. Now, after a successful ID scan, the flow reliably transitions to the ā€œCongratulationsā€ screen, completing the process seamlessly.
