Self-Serve Verification Options
🔧 Choose Your Verification Methods for Age Assurance & Age Appeal
We’ve introduced new self-serve verification options for Age Assurance and Age Appeal, giving you greater flexibility to choose which verification methods best fit your needs.

Self-Serve Verification Options in the Developer Portal — Age Appeal
You can now easily choose which verification methods (such as Facial Age Estimation Scan, Credit Card Check, ID Scan and Trusted Adult Attestation) are available for Age Assurance and Age Appeal, directly within your product settings in the Developer Portal.
These options can be set globally across your platform or tailored for specific markets, allowing you to easily handle market exceptions and comply with local requirements.
🚨 Review Step for Assurance & Verification Changes

Assurance & Verification Changes — Review Step
Whenever you push changes to Assurance & Verification options for testing and review, these changes will be automatically flagged as “Critical Impact” to ensure they receive the necessary attention before going live.
How We Manage Impact Levels for Product Changes
When you make changes to your product settings — like updating age requirements, adding new permissions, or changing privacy policies — it’s important to know how those changes might affect your users. To keep things safe, compliant, and transparent, we use a clear impact level system and a step-by-step review process.
How Do We Determine Alert Types?
Every change you make is evaluated based on its potential impact on end users. We assign an alert type according to what your users will experience as a result of the change:
- 🟢 Green: Low user impact. Changes that do not trigger any notifications or require any action from users.
- 🟠 Amber: Medium user impact. Changes that notify users (such as sending an informational email), but do not require them to take any action.
- 🔴 Red: High user impact. Changes that require users to take action (for example, obtaining new consents or additional verification), or could affect their access. These always require review before going live.
- 🔴⚠️ Critical: Very high user impact. Changes that could have major compliance or legal consequences, or significantly disrupt user access. These always require thorough review and approval.
By focusing on the real-world effect each change has on your users, our alert system ensures that you’re always aware of the potential impact and can manage updates responsibly.
Bugs & Enhancements
Verification Messaging Update
The copy shown on verification screens has been refined for clarity:
Multiple verification methods:
The prompt remains:
“Please choose a verification method below. You only need to do one method.”Single verification method (jurisdiction-specific):
The prompt now reads:
“Please complete the verification below to continue.”
This enhancement ensures messaging accurately reflects the available options and reduces potential user confusion.
The footer has been standardised across all iframe screens in the verification flows. It consistently includes links to k-ID’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, ensuring a uniform user experience throughout all verification steps.
We’d love to hear from you!
