GCE 2.30 Release Notes

Knowledge & Insights — Lite Access

We now support entitlement management for Knowledge & Insights Lite, a streamlined tier of our flagship platform thoughtfully designed to provide targeted access to just a few core data points. While built on the robust foundation of the full Knowledge & Insights suite — which delivers global compliance expertise, US-specific tracking tools, interactive maps, breakthrough market analysis, and innovative compliance visualisation — the Lite version is intentionally limited in scope, serving as an accessible entry point for organisations with the most basic compliance needs.

Knowledge & Insights (Full Suite)

Key Features of Knowledge & Insights Lite

  • Age thresholds (including Civil Age and Digital Consent Age)

  • Parental consent requirements

Lite access is restricted to these essential data points within the Regulatory Hub, and does not include the broader capabilities or advanced capabilities of the full suite. This limited mode is well-suited for compliance, product and legal teams who require quick, reliable answers to foundational, high-level compliance questions.

As compliance needs inevitably become more complex, with entitlement management, organisations can easily upgrade to the full suite. This approach makes Knowledge & Insights Lite a simple, cost-effective entry point to compliance data, while ensuring an easy transition to more comprehensive regulatory intelligence and feature-rich tools when required.

Bugs & Enhancements

Notification before Overwriting Existing Permissions

To help prevent accidental overwriting of a child's existing game or app permissions in Family Connect, we've added a new notification for parents. Now, if a parent attempts to set permissions for a game or app to a child profile that already has active permissions for the same item, the portal will display an alert before any changes are made. This update is designed to reduce parental error and unnecessary friction for children, especially in families with siblings across different jurisdictions.

User Feedback-Driven Terminology Update

Based on insights from recent user testing with real-life parents, we’ve updated the term “Trusted Adult Attestation” to more straightforward “Verify with Trusted Adult”. To ensure clarity, we’ve kept the helpful accompanying description “Get a parent or guardian to confirm the age you provided”. Our testing revealed that the original term “attestation” was too complex and legalistic for children to easily understand. This update demonstrates our ongoing commitment to making our interface more intuitive and family-friendly, shaped directly by real-world user insights.

Email Template Enhancement

We’ve enhanced our email template sent to Trusted Adults for approval requests. The “Personal Data Collected” column now clearly specifies that “proof of identity” may be provided through credit card information, a scan of the user’s government-issued ID, or other personal details. The updated template also explicitly states that neither the publisher/developer nor k-ID stores proof of identity information; only the outcome of the verification process is recorded.
